About Hatha Yoga at Mill Hill Music Complex

Hatha yoga (also called hatha vidya (हठविद्या), is a kind of yoga focusing on physical and mental strength building exercises and postures described primarily in three texts of India:
Hatha Yoga Pradipika by Yogi Swatmarama (15th century)
Shiva Samhita, author unknown (before 1500 CE[4] or late 17th century)
Gheranda Samhita by Yogi Gheranda (late 17th century)

Yoga’s combined focus on mindfulness, breathing and physical movements brings health benefits with regular participation. Yoga participants report better sleep, increased energy levels and muscle tone, relief from muscle pain and stiffness, improved circulation and overall better general health. The breathing aspect of yoga can benefit heart rate and blood pressure. Yoga has proven benefit in combatting depression and  lowering stress levels. Hatha Yoga has been shown to be beneficial for people living with cancer and recovering from cancer treatments. Hatha Yoga is an ideal form of exercise  for people suffering back problems and other muscular skeletal issues. You should always inform your teacher of such conditions and seek their advice on suitability of particular exercises. The full health benefits of yoga are explained on the Yoga Foundation website – http://yogahealthfoundation.org/health_benefits_of_yoga_explained.
